this is my new home. or possibly my new home depending on how you look at it. my apartment hasn't been working out... between the cold and the bugs, it just feels like a crappy boarding home. So, thankfully, my friends carrie and meghan's roommate decided to go crazy after his breakup and start stalking his ex-girlfriend as well as be a shitty roommate so they are kicking him out. I'm putting my place up on craigslist and if someone bites then I'm moving! I just really hope this happens. It would be so nice to live with people that i connect with and have a home environment. Plus, a bathroom would be right outside my bedroom because I'm sick of walking downstairs in the middle of the night.

Some digital media and radio kids put together a movie for Camput MovieFest and won! I don't think anyone saw it coming. I'm pretty sure everyone thought a few people would chuckle in the back and that would be that. Here's the link.

After 6 years of livejournal blogging, I am finally throwing in the towel. I'm still subscribing to blogs through google reader so don't think I'm ignoring you. I think it's time for me to move on to my next blogging experience. Probably blogspot. More details later.

These are a few pictures from Reuters Pictures of the Year 2007. I think they are pretty great and the rest are definitely worth looking at. the link to that is http://www.reuters.com/news/pictures/slideshow?collectionId=1067&galleryName=Showcases#a=1
There are some other great photo essays as well. One of my recent favorites is Bush visiting wounded war vets. It leaves you sad and confused. The link to that is http://www.reuters.com/news/pictures/slideshow?collectionId=1272#a=1
The entry probably would of made more sense around new years but i was looking at it today and wanted to post it. I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!

i almost went out tonight to see lindsey play at lenny's but i couldnt get myself to jump in the car immediately and spend 30 minutes to get downtown. i get tired of having to drive every where when i come home. call me spoiled, but in athens everything is 10 minutes away and i like it that way. plus im tired. im still adjusting to the thought of not having anything to do for a few weeks. i decided not to work at r. thomas this break, which is actually causing me some anxiety since i prefer to watch my bank account get larger or stay the same than get smaller. i might sell some stuff on ebay to compensate for my spending these next few weeks. tonight im starting a graphic novel called Persepolis. It just came out as a movie, but id like to read it before seeing it. And here's a shocker, I'm going to include the trailer in this entry. YouTube might of saved my life this semester. It's the television equivalent to a power nap and for that reason I find it very relaxing. I dont usually have time to dedicate to television so it's just the right size.
There is a lot to do over the next few days. I have a lot of work to do on Christmas presents. If I do say so myself, I think I'm doing a good job this year with everyones gifts. Ive put a lot of time and thought into it and I came up with some quality ideas. I went to the mall today and about had a mental break down from all the hustle and bustle. Every shopping trip is an affirmation on how I don't want to live my life. I don't know how people go to work there every day.
I'm going to go clean the kitchen now. Enjoy the trailer.

fit as a fiddle

Dec. 2nd, 2007 | 12:01 am

today has been pretty rough. its so hard knowing you cant do anything for the ones you love, that they have to change for themselves. oh, the vague yet telling entries of livejournal, how i loathe thee, but sometimes it needs to be put out there, even if it's nonsense to anyone that reads it. I just want people to get better. I want them to take care of themselves and believe they can get over their hang ups. I mean REALLY believe to the point of showing progress. Not for my sake, for theirs. The rest of my day was pretty alright. I had an exec retreat for the radio station. I like everyone I work with so far. They all seem enthusiastic about being there. I planned the primise of my first special. it's going to be on intellectual property rights. Tommy and I are going to get some of the law professors to talk about what's going on with piracy and explain the details of the situation, maybe even have a debate. Also, we are going to try to get an interview with the UGA students that were fined for downloading music. Who knows if they can do it with their current legal situation, but I sure hope so. Im excited about it. Anyway... I wish people understood their potential. I hate having to be a spectator to destructive behavior. I hope everything turns out because my bones are starting to bow from the pressure of having my fingers crossed. I just wish there was a true concrete bottom for people to hit because then I could believe in the phrase "no where else to go but up" so much more. I still have hope. Really - I do. Tonight watching billy elliot and this made it better. I wanted to share it with someone.

www.wuog.org

Nov. 12th, 2007 | 07:09 pm

I went through the application and interview process for news director of 90.5 WUOG this week and found out last night that I got the position! I'm super excited about it. I have a lot of good ideas that I hope to put into action. The biggest project in mind is a documentary radio show about Athens. That's the thing I'm most excited about. My training starts in December and I become the news director January. This really makes me happy. It's going to be nice to be a part of an organization. I really love working at the radio station. There is such a nice sense of comradely and purpose. I think this is going to be a lot of fun. Probably a lot of work, but at the end of the day I'll be proud of it.

So my friend Helen just moved to the Philippines to work for a nonprofit. She's a part of this doodling society over there which looks like SO much fun. Anyway, I was looking at her pictures and this was just too adorable not to post. I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am.

1) Someone calling up at the radio station this morning to ask what song I was playing because she loooooovvvveeed it. wow - i'm not making a mix tape for myself after all.
2) a customer as Espresso Royal noticing i have two different colored eyes. that's always a surprise and a treat.
3) having money in the bank.

fall break starts tomorrow. i'm coming home and doing the thing I said i would never do again - work at r. thomas. i dont really want to, but my landlord likes getting a check that doesn't bounce at the beginning of the month. it's nice to have a job where I can call in and ask to work just 3 days and it's fine . the flexibility is the only reason i go back. i'm not getting any days off for my break except tomorrow night. thursday, friday, saturday at r. thomas and sunday back in athens at espresso royal. it will be nice to spend some time in atlanta though. hopefully i will get to see some people while im there. ive already decided there is no way i'm working over thanksgiving break. that's truly going to be a break and im going to enjoy it sooo much. working 3 days a week and taking 15 hours is a lot. I signed up for classes yesterday and decided to just keep it at 12. I think that's much more do-able. My schedule is pretty great, actually. Color Photo, Digital Photo, Modern Photography - Art History, Intro to Journalism. I've decided to apply to the journalism school even though there is a chance it might add a semester. It makes the most since for my future and what I want to do for a career. It looks like I'm going to be the news director for the radio station starting in january. I'm pretty excited about that. anyway, i have to cut this short.

Best New Product On The Market!

Oct. 22nd, 2007 | 02:34 am

So I'm not one to get excited about new twists on old things, but this literally made me squeal with delight after picking out my cereal. No, I don't usually eat pop tarts. Yes, I bought them anyway. And yes, I'm eating one now.

Whose teacher is known as "The Miracle Worker" in a play and a movie?
Why that would be Helen Keller's.

Okay, it's for kids. You obviously can't ask civil war history questions when your flavor is called 'quizberry', but it's still pretty damn cool. I certainly wish these had been in my bagged lunch.
